ByteDance’s gaming unit Nuverse acquires C4games

ByteDance yesterday announced that its gaming unit Nuverse has acquired Chinese game developer C4games.

The news comes a week after Nuverse reportedly acquired Shanghai-based gaming studio Moonton at a $4B valuation.

As reported by Reuters, the acquisition is a part of TikTok-maker’s ongoing efforts to expand into the games business and compete with PUBG Mobile developer Tencent.

In October, ByteDance launched a new mobile games store dubbed Danjuan Games with puzzle games and simple-side scrollers.

A month later, the Chinese tech giant also launched a new publishing arm named Pixmain with 5 available titles.
