Valorant is coming to mobile

Riot Games announced that a mobile version of its tactical free-to-play Valorant is in development. The studio didn’t share the release date of the game.

Valorant Mobile’s announcement comes with the PC release reaching its one-year anniversary. Riot Games said Valorant has reached 14 million monthly active PC players and half a billion games played in its first year.

“We didn’t start out with ‘We’re making Valorant on mobile,’ we started out with ‘Can we make Valorant on mobile?’ with a lot of skepticism,”  Valorant executive producer Anna Donlon said.

Donlon said the move to mobile began with a list of questions about what Valorant is at its core and whether it can be accomplished on phones. Riot would not proceed with the project if any of the items on the checklist could not be done.

“For us, whatever you get out of playing on PC, you should get out of playing Valorant on mobile. But we have to recognize that the mobile player need is different.”
