Google has announced that Venmo is being added as a payment option on Google Play, giving eligible users another way to pay for apps, games, books, movies, and in-app purchases through the Play Store.
According to Google, users can link their Venmo account to Google Play and select it during checkout or add it through their Google Play payment settings. Once connected, Venmo can be used for both one-time purchases and eligible recurring subscriptions.
The integration also allows users to choose their preferred funding source within Venmo, including their Venmo balance, linked bank account, debit card, or credit card, depending on eligibility and Venmo’s payment policies.
Google said the addition is intended to provide users with greater flexibility at checkout by expanding the payment methods available on Google Play. Venmo joins the platform’s existing payment options, which include credit and debit cards, PayPal, gift cards, carrier billing in supported regions, and other local payment methods.
The new payment option is rolling out gradually to eligible Google Play users over the coming weeks. Google has not provided additional details about regional availability or announced plans to expand the feature beyond Venmo’s supported markets.
The update is part of Google’s broader effort to expand payment choice on Google Play, making it easier for users to complete purchases while giving developers access to additional payment options supported by the platform.
