Google ends support for Google Shopping apps on iOS and Android

Google confirmed to 9to5Google that it is ending support for Google Shopping mobile apps for iOS and Android.

Here is the full statement from a Google spokesperson:

“Within the next few weeks, we’ll no longer be supporting the Shopping app. All of the functionality the app offered users is available on the Shopping tab. We’ll continue building features within the Shopping tab and other Google surfaces, including the Google app, that make it easy for people to discover and shop for the products they love.”

First spotted by XDA Developers, Google has started to show a “Something went wrong” prompt to app users with the version 59 of Google Shopping app. Users updating the app via the app stores are now being asked to visit shopping.google.com to continue shopping.

The full warning message says “The app is unavailable right now, but you can continue shopping on shopping.google.com.”
