Tripledot Studios has agreed to acquire Supersonic, Unity’s mobile game publishing business, in a $40 million deal aimed at strengthening its position in the hybrid-casual games market. The transaction expands Tripledot’s publishing capabilities by combining its portfolio of live-operated titles with Supersonic’s developer network and publishing expertise.

Founded in 2019, Supersonic has worked with hundreds of mobile game developers, helping studios scale titles through user acquisition, monetization, and live operations. Since its launch, the publisher has generated more than 6.5 billion downloads across its portfolio, publishing titles including Bridge Race, Going Balls, Join Clash 3D, and Build A Queen.

Tripledot said the acquisition will enable it to broaden its publishing offering while giving independent developers continued access to Supersonic’s tools, expertise, and global distribution network. Following the transaction, Supersonic will continue operating as a publishing label within Tripledot.

The acquisition also expands Tripledot’s reach in the rapidly growing hybrid-casual segment, which blends the accessibility of hypercasual games with deeper progression systems and long-term monetization. The company said combining Supersonic’s publishing platform with Tripledot’s expertise in live operations will help developers build games with longer lifecycles and more sustainable revenue models.

For Unity, the sale represents another step in its strategy to streamline operations and focus on its core technology business. Supersonic became part of Unity through the company’s acquisition of ironSource in 2022. By divesting the publishing business, Unity is continuing to narrow its focus on providing tools and services for game developers rather than operating publishing businesses directly.

The acquisition is expected to close during the third quarter of 2026, subject to customary closing conditions. Once completed, Tripledot will add Supersonic’s publishing operations to its existing business, further expanding its presence across mobile game development and publishing.

The deal follows a series of acquisitions by Tripledot in recent years as the company continues to grow through both organic expansion and strategic investments, reinforcing its ambition to become one of the largest independent mobile games companies globally.
