Instagram has introduced a new feature named ‘’Recently Deleted’’ that will allow IG users to view and restore their posts that they deleted in the last 30 days.

Popular social networking app Instagram is now used by over 1 billion monthly and more than 500 million daily active users from all over the world. Especially during these difficult days when the pandemic keeps us apart from our loved ones, it is one of the first choices of millions of social media users to get in touch with family and friends, and also to spend time at home.

Releasing a blog post, the company announced that it’s rolling out a long-awaited feature named ‘’Recently Deleted’’ that will enable users to view and restore IG posts deleted in the last 30 days.

”Today, we’re rolling out Recently Deleted, a feature to help you manage your content. We know this is something people have been asking for and now, for the first time, you can review and restore deleted content in the Instagram app,” said the company in the blog post.

The new feature will be very helpful for users in case their accounts get hacked and hackers remove their Instagram posts.

”We know hackers sometimes delete content when they gain access to an account, and until now people had no way of easily getting their photos and videos back,” said Instagram.

How to restore deleted Instagram posts using the ’Recently Deleted’ feature

Before you start using Instagram’s new Recently Deleted feature, Instagram will ask you to verify that you’re ‘’the rightful account holder’’ to permanently delete or recover your IG posts from the Recently Deleted folder.

While your deleted IG Stories will be available in the Recently Deleted folder for 24 hours, your photo and video posts will be permanently removed from the folder after 30 days.

To view and restore your deleted Instagram posts;

  • Make sure your app is up to date.
  • Go to Settings > Account > Recently Deleted.
  • Click on the posts that you want to Restore or remove permanently.

That’s it.
