Real estate app downloads up 14% Y/Y in H1 2021

U.S. downloads of the top 30 real estate and housing apps grew 14% Y/Y to more than 23 million in the first half of 2021, according to Sensor Tower’s latest report.

The apps broke a new record in Q1 2021 generating 12 million new installs in the United States. Although the quarterly growth didn’t continue in Q2, downloads were still up 7% compared to the same quarter of the last year. 

Zillow takes the lead with 7.7 million installs

US-based online real estate company Zillow’s mobile apps accounted for 47% of all the downloads that the top 30 generated in the first half of the year.  Its top two apps which are Zillow Real Estate and Zillow Rentals generated a total of 7.7 million installs.

While the company continues to hold the largest market share since 2018, it’s overall share dropped 4% to 44% in the first half of 2021.

Real estate management app downloads up 80%

In addition to the real estate and housing apps, real estate management apps also saw a significant growth in downloads in H1 2021. 

According to the report, downloads of the top 10 U.S. real estate management apps grew 80% in June 2021 from January 2020.

Meanwhile, Sales & Rental apps saw a relatively less growth in installs over the same period.
