Affle has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire key AdColony technology assets and trademark rights from Digital Turbine, marking a significant move in the mobile advertising sector as companies continue to consolidate technology, data, and publisher relationships. The transaction will be completed through Affle MEA FZ LLC, a subsidiary of Affle.
The acquisition includes the AdColony SDKs for Android and iOS, the underlying technology platform, existing integrations with in-app publishers and mediation platforms, as well as the AdColony brand name, domain, and associated goodwill. Affle said these assets will be integrated into its consumer platform business, which focuses on delivering advertising and user acquisition solutions for brands and app developers.
AdColony has long been known for its presence in mobile advertising, particularly in video advertising and app monetization. The company became part of Digital Turbine in 2021 when the latter acquired AdColony as part of a broader expansion strategy in the mobile advertising market.
According to Affle, the acquisition is intended to expand its reach across the mobile ecosystem by strengthening relationships with app publishers and increasing access to advertising inventory. The company also expects the addition of AdColony’s technology and integrations to enhance audience intelligence capabilities and support advertising performance across its platform.
For Digital Turbine, the transaction represents another step in its ongoing effort to streamline operations and focus on its core media and distribution businesses. The company said the sale aligns with its strategy of consolidating technology assets and concentrating resources around its primary advertising platform initiatives.
The agreement also extends the commercial relationship between the two companies. Affle and Digital Turbine indicated that they plan to continue working together by leveraging their respective advertising, distribution, and technology capabilities across the mobile ecosystem.
The deal comes at a time when mobile advertising companies are seeking greater scale through ownership of proprietary technology, publisher integrations, and first-party data assets. As competition intensifies across app monetization, performance advertising, and mobile commerce, acquisitions of established ad tech infrastructure have become an increasingly common strategy for expanding market reach and improving operational efficiency.
With the addition of AdColony’s technology stack and brand assets, Affle is expanding its footprint in the mobile advertising landscape while gaining access to tools and publisher connections that have been part of the AdColony ecosystem for years. The transaction is expected to close following customary completion procedures outlined in the agreement.
