Apple Music announces Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos and Lossless Audio

Apple announced that Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos and Lossless Audio support will be added to its subscription-based music streaming service Apple Music beginning in June 2021. 

At launch, users will be able to listen to thousands of songs in Dolby from many artists including Ariana Grande, J Balvin, Maroon 5, The Weeknd, Gustavo Dudamel, Kacey Musgraves and more with no additional cost. 

Apple Music is making its biggest advancement ever in sound quality,said Oliver Schusser, VP of Apple Music and Beats. “Listening to a song in Dolby Atmos is like magic. The music comes from all around you and sounds incredible.’’

In addition, Apple Music subscribers will also get access to 20 million songs in Lossless Audio at launch and 75 million songs by the end of 2021. 

‘’Subscribers will also be able to listen to their music in the highest audio quality with Lossless Audio. Apple Music as we know it is about to change forever,” said Schusser.

The support for Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos and Lossless Audio will be available for devices with iOS 14.6, iPadOS 14.6, macOS 11.4 and tvOs 14.6 or higher.
