AppLovin has rebranded its advertising business from Axon to AppLovin Ads while simultaneously making its self-serve advertising platform available to all advertisers. The changes mark a broader effort to simplify the company’s product portfolio and expand access to its AI-powered advertising technology beyond its initial rollout.
Previously available through a limited, referral-based program, the self-serve platform is now open to businesses of all sizes. Advertisers can create, launch, and optimize campaigns directly through a redesigned interface without requiring approval or managed services.
The rebranding consolidates AppLovin’s advertising products under a single identity, replacing the Axon name that had become closely associated with the company’s AI-driven advertising engine. While the underlying technology remains the same, the company says the new AppLovin Ads brand is intended to provide a clearer experience for advertisers using its campaign management and optimization tools.
At the core of the platform is AppLovin’s AI infrastructure, which automates audience targeting, bidding, creative optimization, and campaign delivery. Rather than manually configuring campaigns, advertisers define performance objectives such as customer acquisition or return on ad spend, allowing the platform to optimize delivery in real time.
The company has also introduced an updated Ads Manager featuring a streamlined campaign creation process, AI-assisted setup, and enhanced reporting capabilities. The redesign is intended to reduce complexity while making the platform more accessible to advertisers with varying levels of experience.
Although AppLovin has historically been known for its strong presence in mobile gaming, the company is increasingly positioning its advertising platform for a broader range of industries, including e-commerce and consumer apps. Opening the platform to all advertisers reflects its ambition to compete more directly in the wider performance marketing market as AI becomes a larger driver of digital advertising.
The announcement follows AppLovin’s strategic shift toward advertising technology after divesting its mobile gaming business earlier this year. With the launch of the AppLovin Ads brand and the removal of access restrictions, the company is aiming to accelerate adoption of its AI-powered advertising platform across a broader base of marketers.
